Adam & Hilary | Engaged

Hi everyone!  Welcome 2017!  Cheers to a New Year, New Marriages to celebrate and a whole lot of blogging from Jennifer McHugh Photography!!!

Let's all give it up for one of the cutest couples I’ve ever seen Hilary and Adam. Hilary told me all about how her and Adam met.  They are another success story, which is simply amazing.  They have been dating now for a year and a half.

She also filled me in on the proposal. Adam took her to an exhibit at a local Art and Garden gallery.  One similar to Longwood Gardens, only it was in Tennessee, where they currently live together.

He brought her to see thousands of tulips, where he proposed. Of course, she said Y-E-S!

Their wedding date is set for July 2nd, 2017. They will be getting married at the beautiful RiverCrest Country Club, in Phoenixville, PA.   They will be holding a separate reception back in Tennessee for local friends and family.  Hilary’s cousin who is from New York will be the DJ for their reception.

For their Longwood Gardens, Winter engagement session, Hilary picked out a nice pair of jeans and a button down shirt for Adam to wear and she wore a beautiful wine colored sweater, that perfectly complimented Adam’s attire. It was a great casual, Winter look.

Hilary admits, prior to her engagement session, she was a little worried about being in front of the camera and feeling a little awkward. Hilary had a little advice for newly engaged couples on how to prepare for their engagement session. Find ways to make your significant other laugh, make inside jokes, whisper sweet things anything to get a natural laugh and smile from them.  I must say, I totally agree with Hilary.

I  asked Hilary what details about the wedding she is most excited about, she had the sweetest response, “I am most excited for just marrying him!!”  They're also excited to spend the rest of their lives together. It's so clear that this couple is head-over-heels for each other!  You’ll see what I mean when you see the photos from their engagement session.

Tom & Kelsey have a little girl on the way...

Check out Tom & Kelsey!  Could that bump get any more adorable???  They are expecting a little girl in May!  They choose Longwood Gardens as the backdrop to document the arrival of their first baby.  Longwood Gardens is extra special to this engaged couple, because it is where Tom asked Kelsey to be his wife.  And it's absolutely gorgeous at the Gardens, so who wouldn't wanna go there.   I am looking forward to meeting their little girl.  I am overwhelmed with joy for them, as I personally know how wonderful it is to have a little lady!

Enjoy!  Share!  Leave Some Love!

Dave & Jen | Married

Happy New Year! I want to the 2016 off right and blog more frequently. Here is one from one of my most recent weddings. The reception and ceremony were on location at Mendenhall Inn. I always enjoy working with this venue. They do a wonderful job and have beautiful grounds. The spread of food they put out is to die for.

Meet Dave and Jennifer! This couple is just too cute for words. The whole day was full of fun and laughter! After you see these photos your gonna wish you had attended their wedding too! The DJ and Owner of Rock the Block Entertainment had the dance floor packed the whole evening. He was even offering some dance lessons. The toast from the best man and maid of honor were heart felt and funny!

This bride and groom took the cake cutting, I mean cake smashing to a whole new level.  I love all of the excitement on their faces and in their smiles.

Tim & Dina | ENGAGED

Back in March, I met up with Tim & Dina at Race Street Pier, in Philadelphia, PA for their engaged session.  It was the perfect evening, right before sunset.   Tim and Dina are such a sweet couple that obviously have such a deep love for each other.  We had such a fun time getting to know each other a bit better and discussing their great wedding plans for this fall. Tim and Dina are will be getting married at Union Trust in the City of Brotherly Love! Dina booked us on the spot at a bridal show at Harrah's this past winter, because she loved the photos from Dawn & Rich's Engagement session at Race Street Pier!  Their photos came out just as perfect!  Enjoy!

Mila Turns One

Mila! is one!!  I know, I can't believe it.  I feel like it was just yesterday we were sharing Tom & Liza's bump pictures. Since then we've had the pleasure to take part in Mila's newborn, baptism & family sessions.   Mommy & Daddy like to call her "La."  Liza, has a background in floral and event design and is the is the proud owner of Peony & Pearl. Liza designed the session using some beautiful shades of gold, grey & a pop of color with coral!  The confetti balloons were hand made by your's truly, Liza!  And they were STUNNING!!!   Liza spent lots of time on ETSY preparing for Mila's birthday outfit, but is a DIY Mom when it came to all the decor for her session and birthday party.   The gorgeous cake was handmade by Liz Toomey, owner of The Silver Fork.   Mila's huge personality shines through in these pictures.  La started walking when she was only 10 months old.  This girl has been on the go ever since.  I hope you enjoy the cuteness as much as I did!!!

Introducing Mila Elizabeth, March 23.

My Girls... Charley Lynn & Daisy Girl

After much inspiration from The Beauty & Light Seminar hosted by Lucy Baber Photography, I was itching to get home and practice on my favorite clients, Charley & Daisy!  I was trying to Rock Any Location, which was a topic covered by photographer Tara Betz owner of Antiquity Photography.  I took Charley for a walk around 7-7:30 which is an amazing time to shoot.  I loved how the Sun at this time of day, complimented the colors in Charley's dress.  This was not planned, she already had this pretty dress on, from her fun day with her Pop.  The photos are taken in my driveway, random spots on the street and a few neighbors lawns.   We also made it a point to take some pictures on our steps.  We are moving in the next month, and this house will always have extra special meaning to us.   Hope they don't mind!!! I hope your totally obsessed, like I am! So here it is, Enjoy!

My Charley Lynn | Easter Fun

Sometimes it's fun to dress up and play!!!  This is how our afternoons go once in awhile.  Stuck inside because of bad weather, so we made our own spring fun.  Charley picked out the dress and said "I love this flower dress, the flowers smell like chocolates!'  Someone has been watching a little too much Frozen!

Nicole & Jeremy | Engaged

Check out this adorable couple, Jeremy & Nicole.  They met in college at Mountain State University in Beckly, WV. Jeremy was one of the first people Nicole met there. They were introduced in the common area in their dorms. “I remember calling my friend and telling her about this really cute guy I had just met” - Nicole.  They were friends for about 8 months before he finally asked Nicole out on a date.... 8 years later they’re getting married!!!

Jeremy and Nicole were in Nags head, NC on a family vacation with his family. They were on the beach playing badminton, just the two of them. He said he wanted to go for a walk by the water. They were on the beach walking towards the water when he started telling Nicole she was his world and how much he loves her. Nicole turned around and Jeremy was down on one knee. Jeremy proposed and Nicole said YES!  Did you ask my dad? After lots of tears shed, they went out to celebrate. This was actually was Jeremy’s second attempt in proposing, to Nicole. He had planned on proposing a few months earlier at a winery with all their friends and family but Nicole got sick, and the plan fell through. They wouldn’t change anything, though!  How romantic!

Jeremy and Nicole are really excited about the location. They love that they are from Maryland, and wanted to portray that in their wedding venue. The beach house at The Winery at Elk Manor, in North East Maryland, will hold all of that. It’s right on the water, with the vineyard behind and beautiful views. To be around all of that and to be with their family and friends... It's everything they have could ask for. The rustic atmosphere is right up their alley. Everything has played a part in their special day, including their vendors.  They knew instantly that they would be part of making our dream day come true. They are part of what made them fall in love with the venue, the food, the pictures, and the entire experience.

Jeremy and Nicole choose to have their engagement session on the grounds of Elk Manor, their wedding venue.  The venue has so much to offer.  Elk Manor provides a farm, rustic, winery atmosphere, with tons of history and architecture, and it’s on the water.  How perfect is this venue!!!  The grounds provide two areas to host your big day.  Nicole and Jeremy will be getting married at the Beach House over memorial day weekend, so they thought it would only be fitting to have their engagement session on Elk Manors, farm and winery.  For the session, they wanted to wear what they typically wear and just be themselves.  Jeremy wore jeans, boots, and flannel button up for some, black pull over polo for other pictures for a nice variety in the pictures.  They complimented each other well.  Nicole wore leggings, long sweater, & boots. Then she changed to jeans black blouse with coral blazer, and black boots.  Nicole’s advice for couples who are going to do an engagement session.  “Loosen up and have fun with it. We both feel as though we are not very photogenic people. You have to remember that photographers are professionals and they know what looks good.”

I am so excited for this wedding and Memorial Day weekend!  The best part is, the grounds at Elk Manor provide so much variety, that the picture from their wedding will look like they were at another venue.  Bring on the Beach House, Memorial Day weekend, The Beach, The Summer and Best of All, Nicole and Jeremy’s Big Day!!!

Meet Blake and his Big Sis. Addison//Newborn

Today I'd like you to meet some very special people: Blake and his older Sister, Addison! Our shoot was a success and I am excited to share the shots I was able to capture!

Addison is so happy to have a younger brother, and she made that apparent at our shoot! One thing's for certain – baby Blake will always have someone looking out for him!

As you can see from the pictures below, these little ones were so good during the session, and already share such a connection. I can’t wait to see how they interact as they get older!

Thanks for reading! See you again!

Dawn & Rich // Engaged

Hi Everyone!

Let’s give it up for one of the happiest couples I’ve ever seen: Dawn and Rich!  Over the Fall I had the pleasure of photographing an engagement session for one of my best friends, Dawn.  This was particularly important to me, because I am a bridesmaid in her wedding so I will not be photographing the big day! I was so excited to be a part of documenting how happy her fiancé Rich makes her. Dawn and Rich aren’t your ordinary couple and they definitely didn’t want any ordinary pictures. They are all about the fun, and it shows in their session. The location they choose was the city. We went to Race St. Pier, and walked the neighborhood a little, looking for some vintage fun. This couple wanted anything but serious, posed pictures.  Although we were able to capture a few gorgeous portrait style shots, the rest were lovely, candid & fun!

They say everything happens for a reason, and that’s particularly true with this cute couple. They reconnected after about 13 years of knowing one another. Dawn was lucky enough to one of his friends and of course the first thing she asked about was, Rich! Who would of known, that little question would have led to Dawn and Rich walking down the isle on April 18, 2015 in Rivera Maya, Mexico. With 12 of their closest friends and family by there side and about 45 guest the couple will say “I do” at Secrets Silversands Riviera Maya, Mexico.

They’re not just excited about the details, though. They’re excited about sharing the rest of their lives together. They Spend most of their time with two special children, Blitz (a Pit Bull) and Chunk (an English bull dog).  It’s so clear this couple is head-over-heels for each other! They were meant for one another! When these two are in the room, everyone is happy and laughing, just having a good time. Just check out the pictures if you don’t believe me!
